Butler players Frank Patano, Eduardo Garcia, Boris Gatzky and Kyle Pateros each earned recognition on the 2007 All-Horizon League men’s soccer team, chosen by a vote of league coaches. Patano, Garcia and Gatzky each were named second team All-League, while Gatzky and Pateros both were tabbed to the League’s All-Newcomer team.

Patano led the Bulldogs and ranked second in the Horizon League in scoring during the regular season. He tallied 14 goals, which was just one shy of league scoring leader and Player of the Year Michael Ferguson of Loyola. Patano scored eight goals in Butler’s final four matches, including all three goals in Butler’s 3-1 season-ending victory over Wright State! The Butler junior finished second on the team in shots with 45.

Garcia, a junior forward, finished third in shots and shots-on-goal for the Bulldogs. He tied for fifth on the team in scoring with one goal (a game-winner) and three assists, while starting 15 matches.

Gatzky, who transferred to Butler from Gardner-Webb, started all 18 matches for the Bulldogs this fall and finished second on the team in scoring with five goals and six assists. He finished second in the league in assists, third in shots (51) and tied for third in scoring. A year ago, the Butler sophomore was named Freshman of the Year in the Atlantic Sun Conference.

Pateros, a freshman midfielder, finished the regular season as Butler’s fourth-leading scorer with two goals and two assists, and he finished fourth on the team in shots with 15. He played in all 18 Butler matches, including 13 as a starter.
